Earthquake & Tsunami waves
(a common sign out here in the middle of the ocean)
DAMN it's a horrible thing to hear about the 9.0 earthquake out off the west coast of northern sumatra, indonesia. largest in the world to be recorded in 40years. horrible deaths to an estimated 50K+ (last count) in all and damage to millions.
lots of people out here in hawaii are stunned. perplexed at the potential that an earthquake of that size can have. especially on island living like those of sri lanka, the maldives, phuket - thailand, indonesia, india, somalia and so many others. such devastation to so many poor countries. WTF?
many people are chattering here about the chaos. many people have been to those islands and areas for surfing. hell, we live in the same type of situation. to think of a wave train traveling at 200-500 mph at an average 40-50 feet or more is unthinkable. how can somebody even visualize a wave moving as fast as a plane?
those poor people. i'm not even sure what to say. i'm at a loss over the thoughts of it.
