holiday tree is up

IMG_0294.JPG

tiz the last remaining days of holiday madness. we decided that this year we would be ahead of the holiday madness. well, not really considering it's less than a week away. normally ye and i are the last 2 people runnning around the damn shops at the hour or so before closing. we are in fact part of the population that the stores stay open late for. so this year we decided that we needed a little chaos and cultural study. with that said, this weekend was holiday tree hunting (an alive and growing one at that) and then followed up with several days of hit and run shopping. sprinkled with some heavy traffic, a visit to the mad house of double parked chinatown, light decorating and lots of java to fuel the process.

ah.....all the things we missed about people and the holidays right out side our door. we started at 11am this morning. not that early for the true daredevils we had hoped to be this weekend. guess we never claimed to be shopping pro's and needed to work up some courage. which in the end is what gave me the beat down as ye dragged me around as i cryied about how i wanted to go home and hide about 3pm.

she laughed with a sinister grin and said "shutup and keep going".
she persisted that we endure and strive forward. like the loving companion she is, she pulled me along telling me to do this and find that. my mantra was keep it simple and keep my feet moving. as long as i stayed away from that damn evil satan apple store i knew i wouldn't have much longer to go. (i could spend a months pay in that place and not even realize what the hell was happening :-)

she did go for the hail mary move though. gave me the carrrot of "if we get this done we could make sushi". yeah i know i know...she fights dirty. low ball punch right there. thankfully in the end we finished everything on that list she had clasped white knuckeled in her hands. even if she had to slap me silly and say "keep focused, only this-n-that and we're done".

sushi & sake was good by the way....

take a gander at the tree we just put up. it might be thin, but it's tall. plus we can plant it outside and it'll keep growing.
