The Far Shore
no surfing today. windy as hell out on the south shore.(20-35mph) a week of this nonsense and i'm starting to have the desire to pick up wind surfing as a side sport. so today we've just been chilling out, headed to farmers market and choked down a cup or 2 of java. other misc saturday details like still working on the photo gallery. got what i need installed on the sever and not just need to get the code and install. many photo's still need to be added. so much todo for this little space of ether on the net.
marathon is about a week away. ran 10 yesterday with ease. a coupla 6's earlier this week and hopefully tomorrow i'll throw down a 15-18. getting the body to a state of cruz'ing for distance. had some hiccups this fall in the training. needed to re-adjust mentally and trim some weeks in the plan. ah well, looking to lean on those years of college running to survive next sunday. they are expecting 20,000 at this race. 1/2 of which will be japanese and can run their asses off all day and night. thinking of dragging the ipod along to keep me company. set up a straight out rocking playlist last week for the event just "incase".
other random tidbits:
i've been logging onto the intergalactic pilot blogs more and more latley. its been helping me motivate myself for the up coming cycling season. these guys are solid. also makes me miss the snow alot as well. rolled the surly out yesterday and have it up ready for the scrub down. leaving the pretty bike tucked away until i can get the pony's into a decent enough shape to do lola some justice. maybe if i'm lucky i can use the marathon and several more races this jan/feb as a good transition into cycling. have some sensation of good health before i start the miles of abuse for the unconditioned cycling legs. now if i could only get my swimming under control i might be able to toss myself into a tri and have some real sadistic fun. cycling is second nature and running is as well. but the swimming is another ball game all to itself. my motto is "i can swim to save my life, as long as its within 150yrds to shore"

heading to north shore in an hour. surfing film feastival with several really cool original 70's flicks on the docket. funny thing is its in an old barn/community center tucked away. jack johnson is showing a surf film up in haleiwa as well. stoked! one movie in particular i've waiting to see is "The Far Shore". about 2 younger adults in the early 70's traveling to south amercia on no money a couple cameras and a couple surf boards. getting lost and tripping all over discovering unknown breaks and seeing parts of the coasts that no surfer had touched. other voyages as well to ireland, africa and europe. 10years of travel footage and stories. i'm guessing this will be a good dose of inspiration for the recent travel bug that has bitten me. i await, eagerly..the buzz....
