vertical space day dreaming

loft cube.jpg
(perched on a building rooftop: "loftcube")

there are days that we hate living in the city. there are also many days we are happy to have access to the things that we do. the constant relationship is a question of personal space & people. enjoying each day for what it has to offer & the most you can make of it. sooner or later in life though your faced with the questions of to rent or to take the plunge & own? to save pennies or get a second job & make a couple more pennies?

honolulu is a city filled with identical houses. some variations but essentially cookie cutter styled dwellings. of course if you have money you can buy your unique dream. but for the rest of us that are just making ends meet, we're stuck with what's available. everything is expensive. $land land land$ is what many are after. it's damn expensive here, maybe $150K - 250k an acre? ye & i have talked about the parameters involved when living in the city. the concept of living on horizontal plots of land with little to no lawns, gardens or yards to speak of. if you do get one it's a heavy cost per square foot. until then however, you get potential view of a neighbors chain link fence, old ass junk car, dog house or maybe even piled up STUFF in the driveway. another option is to be living in a high rise where the transportation to your modern treehouse home is an elevator on XYZ floor.

(looks like 4 floors that are 20x20)

i think this is my most recent motivation & why i've become fixed on the idea of vertical space. ye seems to be jumping on board with the idea. to creatively come up with a solution & a green idea to use available space on a rooftop? or just a small cube of dirt that is approved to build straight up?

i hate renting JUST what's in the market. i dislike the concept of 5-7% real estate agents. i like blank peices of paper with potential. i like creative ideas. i like choices & options.
