studio ideas
these are very cool affordable housing units. might give lower income housing a whole new feel, even college dorm potential. could even be a starter kit for urban families, single mom's, outreach programs & the list goes on. they might even be painted light earth tones or trimmed out with wood & set in a back drop as mtn chalet/ lake house rentals. could even stack a couple on each other & cutt a floor plan out for a circular stair case with a roof deck up top. maybe even built with more recycled materials. more photos "here "
could even be good for schools to use as classrooms or smaller sized daycare centers. i could see these in more progressive cities at first, as they might be a little to bold for some others to adopt. of course there other factors to consider such as weather, climate, topography & gradient issues. i just like the idea of unique growth & style.
on that note, last week i was looking at some photos & stumbled across this.
check out urban living in "hong kong here"
its like o'ahu with 8-10x's more people & a little less land mass.

I read about an architect in Dwell or Wired magazine who designed palces similar to these to bring into areas that were devastated by disaster. Really cool to see what can be done with so little.

over in norway, denmark or finland i think..can't remember. anyhow, they used shipping containers as mocked up and refurbished dorm rooms to help handle the shortage of places for students to stay during the semesters. even if some of the insulation is lacking a little pot belly stove can do wonders.
these cats here http://www.architectureforhumanity.org/ are doing some helpful things as well.
