metallica
ok ok, suppose i can post this just cuz deep down my roots are engrained in the early albums of metallica. some of my best mtn bike rides have been with garage days/ 5.98 ep cranking in the ears. as a kid i was a heavy metal local boy who ran with the wrong crowd & always seemed to get away with all kinds of trouble.
point of the story..? youth!
well moving on,..last night i skipped out of work to catch the end of the last swell. hit the waves at 5 & surfed until 7:30. damn great session as the 10' walden was putting on a clinic. i've learned that sometimes the board just wants to have its own fun. as a side note it should be said that the 5pm surf session mimics the highway traffic conggestion. (lots of people in a rush, everybody trying to go go go, pleny of people getting agro on short boards as all try to catch a wave, people dropping in on each other & just general younger aged chaos to release tension) so to regulate this nonsense i ride the 10 footer. :-) its better to sit deep, have some patience, pick the best waves & hammer through the crowds slicing & weaving along the wall w/ a cat ate the mouse grin.
but last night someone in the lineup caught my eye. low & behold sitting there is kirk hammet of metallica. an icon of modern rock & older varations of speed metal. nice guy & seemed to be friendly when i said hello. most of us in the line up gave him a hoot & a holler when he caught some waves.
but out there.......nobody is going to cut you any favors if you intend to sit in the lineup. you still need to hold your own.
so in that light i'm sorry about taking so many waves kirk. but hey, years ago you were happy to charge 50+bucks for a ticket. :-)
