custom board on the way!

cs1
hot damn let the fun begin. just went to our shapers place this morning to have a new board cut to spec. 8' pintail 3" thick w/ a semi-gun 15.5" shaped nose. i'm so "stoked" about the potential of this design. (nice rocker, double barrle channels that feed into the 2+1 or single fin just perfect)

i've been searching for a design for about a year now, thinking of this & that. in the end i went w/ the idea of a board i could ride in double overhead as well as ride in waist high to head high waves. the motivation stems from the early 70's north shore styles. not as short as the gerry lopez 6'-7' but similar in qualities brought into an 8' shape.

after a few conversations with kimo & taking into account the width & thickness being what they are. the impression is i'll be able to sit a bit deep, catch monster waves & w/ some lucked get tubed. well...monster for me is anything over head to double over head. when its double over head you want to have your shit together. so having a board shaped by a hard chager that loves those types of waves....ends up being a good type of board to have when you want to get tubed this winter in north shore. :-)

end of july the new board will be ready. triple glass 4x4 patch with a nice green color just in time for the august swells. can't wait & i'll be counting the days.
