new glass love

new board has arrived!!!!!

after a 4 week wait to the day when the clark foam template was cutt.
a sweet little semi-ish gun shaped early 70's/ late 60's pintail rocket is born. the seafoam green color turned out spectacular. giving the board a real relaxed vibe yet still having the look of a swoopy head high /dbl over head screamer.

needless to say i was stoked to head off to the shop to grab the new stick. after a quick blessing with some salt water & sage it was time for the base wax & a healthy top coat of sex wax. all that was left was a quick load up on the moped & it off to cliffs for the intro session. even if the waves are junk right now (2-4ft reg w/ tradewinds blowing at 15-20mph) i still loved every second of the new board. just like a nice skateboard grinding fat turns down a road or slipping a snowboard into some tight-n-wide "s" turns.... the new board just ripped.

the dbl channels feeding into the hatchet 2plus1 setup proves to be a fast, loose & skiddy ride. thin rails to help slice when digging in & its very easy to carve up some good spray.

i think what attracts me the me the most is the potential of this board to take my riding style back in time. even when i was sketching the board out i found myself hunting for historical info. anything along the lines of older articles, designs, clips of movies & looking at the various shapers websites for sizing. all of this creating a story of innovation of the times back then, the spirit of the boards flow in the water & varied characters riding them.

now...if mother nature would just answer my wishes & send some head high glassy swells for august. i could just be one of the happiest surfers in the water.

oh yeah, for all of you who want me to shut it about the board......here's an alternative pic for u.
a little rainbow action over the back yard view of diamond head.
