yoga
~day 3 of the yoga workshop with sharatt, straight from mysore, india. he is pattabhi jois' grandson and assistant. pattabhi jois is the guru of ashtanga yoga. (this is the website: http://www.ayri.org/index.html)
so truly amazing!! i am in such awe of how powerful YOGA is...so truly healing, so nurturing, so nourishing, and so grounding.
i watch my mind though it all. there are times when i am so focused, in the zone with my breath...breathing in "LOVE" and breathing out "GRATITUDE". and then there are times when i am ahead of myself-planning on how i can give to people. it's so very interesting to watch the mind...we are slaves to our mnds. if we are just able to quiet it, to make it still-the TRUTH/SATYA shall shine through.
i have recently started saying a prayer during my blessing for my meals. "may every breath we take IN be full of LOVE and every breath we give OUT be full of GRATITUDE & above all else, MAY PEACE PREVAIL ON EARTH.

20 seconds of fame....& 50 bucks!

got a call one day from a friend who works for a local ad agency. they needed extras with a new york vibe for a commercial. ha ha ha they should have paid us extra for being the real deal new yorkers at heart that we are.

anyhow...we got 50 bucks & some damn goood laughs out of it. not to mention it was right down in china town where we could hussle over to a club & wiz away the cashola for some gruves.

"wha u no like my cab ride? get da **ck atta hea"

next door

just a few shots....we've been out & about lately at a new club we dig called "next door".
nice lil'place w/ some solid vibes, soul, dancing, imported dj's & positive energy. something which this town needs more of in its night life.

a few 3 or 5 drinks & the night was getting fun.

southern hemi swell is here
yeaaaaaahaaaaaa summer southern hemi swell has arrived!
with a nice wrap hitting the south shore we decided to head off to the famous southern break that offers one of the nicest waves the south shore has to offer...."3's"
hit the water about 545am-ish & stroked the 250 yrds to the break. the whole time there was this surreal tune in my mind. alot like a nice thumping india style gruve beat. must has been the cheb i sabbah we had playing the night before at the house. either way, the waves were peeling 6-8' solid w/ regular big sets holding stong @ 8'-12'.
some of the most epic waves of the morning came in @ a solid 10-12. goose bumps all around as the locals all jockyed for positioning in the line up. slipping in the right spot, making unsaid eye contact, stroking deep, hooting & hollering all the way down the face. lots of guys getting tubed & stoked. the bishman & i caught some waves that were the biggest we had ever surfed. mind you 3's breaks a beautiful right hander that is about 75 yards long on the average & even more on bigger sets. it was epic to drop in on a 10' face w/ 75yrds to go as it tappered to a moderate chest high inside break. after a few more waves i paddled away to the next break (paradise) once the crowds grew to a wacky number. the grin on my face was the same grin i had when i met ye & we had out first date.
nothing like it.....nothing.
life is good.

a day of rememberance...
a day to acknowledge the pain & suffering of those who died, those who lost in the 9/11 incident. a day of sacredness...a day to acknowledge what we have, our loved ones, our lives here on this earth, those who have sacrificed for freedom.
i am in full gratitude everyday for the littlest thing to the very biggest thing, which is all in the same.
people...i love humanity. i am in such awe of how much we learn about our spirituality, how much we grow from our interactions.
to contribute & and to celebrate world peace, i'm going to yoga. as i always say at the end of my classes that i teach, "thank you for your contribution to world peace by first starting with your own inner peace."

coming up for air...
no this blog is not down.
just been buried at work with the launch.
thankfully i've been able to skirt off here & there to catch some sets.
been taking the 8' out and trying to get some practice in. rode it as a single fin for a while, now thinking i'm going to roll over to a hatchet 2+1 setup. give it more of a skateboard feel. might help me control some of those bouncy fast bottom turns i've been getting out of the new board. soon enough the waves in north shore will pick up. so it would be nice to elevate the skills. looking forward to heading up this year & getting some of the 7 mile stretch.
more to come after today....
stoked! today is the games release day to our client.

where to surf?
surf has been up for the past 10 days. YEEEEEEEEEE HAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!
ja ja (JAVA Sport) i feel just like your legs do after that epic trip you just had. at the moment my body is exhausted to its core. i can feel the dull lull in my joints as waves come & go. but i must stroke for them. cuz ya see i can't stop. i've tried & i found its a sickness i have in search of bliss. guess one of the many lessons learned moving to hawaii is that in my heart i love mother nature. then again i've always known that in some ways. but its a true treat to discover something that just touches a special soft spot of the soul. as in any deep relationship, those kinds of moments are welcomed & cherished when trying to live for the now.
anyhow...
last week was a great swell of just glassy butter'd up chest high/ head high waves. had some of the best rides last week. at one point i had so many goosebumps from a great session that i could have melted away. mama nature just allowing me to connect with her all week. i felt so blessed that our energy was so dialed in.
even just the process of sitting in the lineup has been great. lots of good connections with people & us surfers have been graced with several old visitors. we've had epic views of the surrounding islands, several turtles floating around with multiple dolphins also passing by. i've grown to have such a strong love for the water. its addicting & i find myself missing her. i look forward to slipping into the warm waters. gliding down the face as the sun drops away.

lola surf forecast for labor day weekend:
3-5 ft. - waist to head high with occasional 6 ft. and good conditions.
reinforcing SSW swell arrives with building sets saturday. kinda smooth at some spots early this saturday AM. expect clean & light OFFshore conditions...along with some bigger sets through the weekend.
so....yesterday i took some time & tried to rest. catch up on some sleep & mentally getting ready to make another push for some great sessions. take that mixture & top it with some bbq's, friends, good laughs, family & aloha. cook well at 82degrees in the sun & serve chilled with ice.
:-D
aloha's to you all.
we miss you and we promise to catch some for you.
